Do you have a physical shop?
Our lab is housed in an beautiful old warehouse in Collingwood. Unfortunately we recently learnt that our building is being redeveloped and we'll need to move out by the end of Summer, so we're on the hunt for a new home!
Do you have opening hours?
We will as of next week (26/01/25). We're currently accepting film via our dropbox and processing behind the scenes, but next week you'll be able to collect negs, buy film and check out the lab!
Weren't you a self-service photo lab?
Yep! Open Lab was the world's first self-service photo lab—a concept we developed and tested for over 6 years. Unfortunately due to the building redevelopment described above, we've had to pause self-service access until we find a new home.
Are you a traditional photo lab now?
That's it—we essentially operate like any photo lab you've dropped film at before—with some added control on our order form.
How do I drop my film off?
Head to our 24/7 Dropbox at 7 Easey Street, Collingwood. Grab a job bag and write your name on it, then scan the QR code and complete our online order form. Place your film inside the job bag, then drop it in the shoot on the wall.
How do I collect my negatives?
As of next week (20/01/25), we'll have regular hours that we'll enable you to collect negs. If you want them sooner—reach out and I'll organise a time to meet you at the lab. Alternatively, we offer neg postage for $10.
How do I pay for my order?
We'll send you an invoice after receiving your film, and notify you when your orders ready.
How do I post film from interstate/overseas?
Complete the order form at the top of our website, input your address if you want negatives returned. Pack your film into a mailer and clearly label it with your name and number. Post it to 7 Easey Street, Collingwood VIC 3066 and let us take care of the rest.
Does it cost extra to customise my look / select my settings?
There's no extra cost involved, you just have to be ordering hi-res scans.
Do I need to customise my look / select my settings?
Nope, that part of the order form is entirely optional—feel free to let us do our thing.
Are there any prerequisite skills?
No prior skills are required to customize your look with order form—it’s super quick & easy!
